Meet Samantha

Samantha was elected to the 39th Parliament of Western Australia in 2013 as a Labor Member for the East Metropolitan Region. She was re-elected in 2017, 2021 and 2025.

Since the McGowan Labor team formed government in 2017, Samantha has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to various Ministers during each term of Government.

After the State Election in 2025, Samantha was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier; Treasurer; Minister for Transport; Sport and Recreation.

Samantha is currently the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations and a Member of the Joint Standing Committee on Audit.

Prior to entering Parliament, Samantha held several senior roles as Business Development Manager for the American Chamber of Commerce in Perth, Western Australia. AmCham works to promote trade, commerce and investment between Australia and the United States and in the Asia-Pacific region. Samantha was also Executive Officer for Labor Business Roundtable in Perth.

Samantha is passionate about equality for women and made several mentions of this in her inaugural speech in Parliament:

“Financial independence and empowerment should not be a luxury bestowed only on men. Equality for women in the form of equal pay for the same work, more flexible work environments to genuinely encourage workplace participation for women, particularly mothers, is of paramount importance; the role of a government is to foster and facilitate such changes in our society.”

Samantha is a long-suffering Essendon supporter, having grown up in Victoria.
